Brief introduction
Starting in the beautiful town of Sapa and ending in the World Heritage town of Luang Prabang , this is probably the best border crossing ride for cyclists who enjoy cycling in mountainous surroundings. The ever changing and often spectacular landscape and multi diversity in ethnic groups makes every day different.Sapa, Lai Chai, Dien Bien Phu, Luang Prabang are the cultural historical highlights of this tour.

Day 1: Sapa – Tram Ton Pass – Tam Duong
Day 2: Tam Duong – Phong Tho – Paso

Day 5: Dien Bien Phu – Transfer to Laos Border – Muang Khua
Day 6: Muang Khua – boat ride on Nam Ou River – Nong Khiaw

Detail itinerary:
Day 1: Sapa – Tram Ton Pass – Tam Duong (B,L,D)
You will start out from Sapa by cycling up the Vietnam’s highest pass to “Heavens Gate”. A break at the top of the pass will give you the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque view of the Sapa valley and the long snake-shaped road, which you will pass by later. You will then continue the cycle through the fantastic mountainous landscape to Binh Lu, home to a number of ethnic villages such as the Black Dzao, The Laos and Lu tribes..ect. You will then probably need the help of the supply jeep to go up another high pass, before enjoying the easy ride downhill all the way left to Tam Duong, where you stay overnight in a small hotel
Day 2: Tam Duong biking to Phong Tho – Paso home stay (B,L,D)
If today falls on Thursday or Sunday, you will be able to visit Tam Duong Market, which always delivers a very photogenic display of White Hmong, Flower Hmong, Nhang and Pu Na ethnic costumes.
You will start from Tam Duong by taking the jeep to the pass between Tam Duong and Phong Tho. From there you have a 15 km downhill ride on a dirt road before turning right towards the market town of Phong Tho situated on a picturesque tributary of the Na River. A small road then leads you through the unexplored area of a number of ethnic villages and acres of lush riverside banana plantation to the small town of Paso.
Day 3: Paso biking to Sin Ho – Lai Chau (B,L,D)
The road today weaves its way through the picturesque Na River valley, past many small villages of Red and White Hmong, Kho Mu and White Thai Ethnic minorities. The sound of the river running below follows you all along the ride until you reach to Lao Chai early afternoon. Then you will have the opportunity of having a walk around in the small town, soft trekking in the mountains, floating downstream the river or taking a shower and relax over a cup of tea or beer.
Day 4: Lai Chau biking to Dien Bien Phu (B,L,D)
Today is the easiest day on the trip. You will start our by jeep for the first 30 km before cycling downhill to Muong Lay Village. The road from Muong Lay to Dien Bien Phu is sealed, making your ride more enjoyable. Again today you will pass more ethnic villages of White Thai, Red and White Hmong , Kho Mu minorities.
In the afternoon you will reach Dien Bien Phu. You spend your night at Muong Thanh Hotel in Dien Bien Phu
Day 5: Dien Bien Phu – Transfer to Laos Border – Muong Khua (B,L,D)
Today, a challenging cycling day brings us in Laos. Most of the day, we cycling through primary forest and passing some hill tribe villages.After border crossing, the Laos agent will pick you up and transfer to Muong Khua. Overnight at the guesthouse
Day 6: Muang Khau – boat ride on Nam Ou River – Nong Khiaw (B,L,D)
Today, a spectacular boat ride (4 to 5 hours) over the Nam Ou River through a remote area. On the way, we will stop in some remote villages.

Day 7: Nong Khiaw – Luang Prabang (70km) (B,L,D)
After a one hour transfer, start cycling along the Nam Ou River to Pak Mong village, where will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, the landscape getting more spectacular while entering an area with huge limestone mountains.
Overnight in a resort
Day 8: Luang Prabang biking tour (B,L,D)
You head to a boat landing to go for a 1.5 hour scenic boat ride on the Mekong River. Before start cycling, explore a local village along the bank of the River. After a short dirt road track, cycle on a scenic paved road to the beautiful Kuang Si Waterfall, where you enjoy a swim in the crystal clear pool. Cycling back to Luang Prabang and stop on the way at a Hmong hill tribe village to explore their typical lifestyle. Lunch will be provided at the waterfall.
Day 9: Luang Prabang Departure (B)
Today you are free until being transferred to airport for your flight to Siem Reap or Vientiena on your request
